A houseboat from which is assembled in a day

The last few years have ushered in the rise of the digital nomads who conduct business out of restaurants, cafes and subway wagons rather than from homes and offices.

Kodasema, an Estonian design company, develops small houses that move with the owners and can be assembled and disassembled in one day, allowing them to be easily transported.

The latest model of the company, a 278 square foot structure located on a floating base and can be built on both water and Earth.

The company has registered the growing tendency of people who privilege dwellings from the confined spaces and more accessible, from the minimalist aesthetics: people prefer to invest in experiences rather than in material goods.

An Estonian design company has devised a houseboat that can be assembled and disassembled in a single day. Built to last at least 50 years is designed to be easily transported from one place to another.

The original model of the company, Koda, was made of heavy cement weighing about 30 tons. The price of that house, including the installation and delivery, was about $150,000.

Since then lighter materials such as wood and plywood have been introduced that can be recycled and last 50 years. Linnamäe said that the company was about to build houses that depart from $20,000. Because the model can be built on the ground, it could also work as a café, a hotel or a small business, like an artist’s studio.

The public might be ready to live in small spaces, but the construction industry has lagged behind. The concept of a small houseboat is a little early on the Times, said Birgit Linnamäe, CEO of the company. The Kodasema fluctuating model starts from $55,000, but the price varies depending on the materials, the hardware and the location.

“The design task was to remove all that was unnecessary.”
