Coronavirus: here are the anti-contage handles

Many companies are working to develop special handles that reduce the risk of Coronavirus infection in places such as offices, supermarkets and public bathrooms

How to reduce the risk of Coronavirus infection? Governments, healthcare workers and companies around the world are making enormous efforts to design effective strategies against the pandemic that has been plaguing humanity for months now. Sometimes, however, even the most seemingly trivial solutions can be very effective. This is the case with handles. These objects can be a real receptacle for germs and bacteria, including the Coronavirus. For this reason, many companies are working on developing special handles that can reduce the risk of infection in crowded places such as offices, supermarkets and public bathrooms. In Finland, the Fortum company has developed a solution “within arm’s reach”. The handle is made of recycled plastic and allows you to open the door without using your hands: just apply light pressure with your forearm. The first anti-accounting handles have been installed in some supermarkets in Helsinki and are being tested. A similar solution has also been developed in Belgium by Materialise.

Coronavirus: how the anti-accounting handles work

From France comes the Koon Smart Handle project. Unlike the anti-accounting handles developed in Finland and Belgium, the French solution provides for the presence of a special ring that is activated after each use. The operation of the Koon Smart Handle is as simple as it is ingenious: moving along the entire length of the handle, the ring releases a disinfectant and a degreaser gel that eliminate dirt and neutralize bacteria. Including the dreaded Coronavirus. In this way, users can touch the handle with their hand without running the risk of “running into” viruses or dangerous bacteria. Sometimes it doesn’t take much to make a difference!
