A New Era of Minimally Invasive Diagnosis
NaviCam Stomach System is an advanced capsule endoscopy system developed by AnX Robotics. Texas-based AnX Robotics offers versatility in the development and integration of technologies, including precise magnetic control, in-house ASIC design, artificial intelligence, micro-optical imaging, image processing, and wireless transmission to improve patient care. Together with its sister company, it has become a leading company in robotic capsule technology. The company was founded in 2008, when the founders decided to design and build a technology for robotic endoscopy with a capsule. In fact, the main vision is to develop and produce advanced medical devices for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive system. In 2009, ANKON Medical Technologies was founded, which was the first company in the world to commercialize a magnetically controlled capsule endoscopic system. In 2019, Anx Robotics and ANKON entered into an agreement to develop these products.
NaviCam is an advanced technology that combines magnetic control with intelligent software by which it provides clinicians with external robotic control of the capsule inside the human body. The procedure can be guided in real time in five dimensions (two planes of rotation and three planes of translation) by an operator, a control console or a remote console. The studies that have been achieved on this product have shown that this method is safe to visualize the gastric mucosa through remote magnetic manipulation without the need for intubation or sedation.
The system incorporates three-dimensional translational and two-dimensional rotational control to guide the precise movement of the capsule within the stomach. The operator can guide the movement of the capsule to control up, down, forward, backward, left, right, tilt, rotate and jump. The benefits related to the use of this technology certainly refer to the safety of the system, and in addition to the removal of sedation to do endoscopy. In addition, AnX Robotics also offers other systems such as the NaviCam Xpress Stomach System and the NaviCam SB System for small bowel examination. These advanced systems allow doctors to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases in a less invasive and innovative way.
