Here is the innovative biodegradable bag “Solubag”

Made by a Chilean company, Solubag is the innovative biodegradable bag that will be presented in October at Makerfaire in Rome. It promises to be a revolution capable of counteracting the devastating effects of plastic on the ecosystem.

There is no more topical issue of climate change, and the fight against plastic is punctually brought into play. Praiseworthy initiatives have been taken, such as the European ban on disposable plastics from 2021, but only one of the isolated cases remains. Below are two numbers that give us the pulse of the situation:

A solution seems to come from Chile. It’s called Solubag, and it’s a common bag with completely innovative features. Not only is it strong and resistant, but it is 100% sustainable because its production process does not involve the use of fossil fuels. The great novelty is its internal composition that degrades in water in a natural way, without releasing substances harmful to the ecosystem. Who knows if it can really mark the turning point in the fight against disposable plastic!

Santiago de Chile, Jul 24 (EFE), (Image: Alberto Valdés) – A new concept of plastic bags, without any petroleum derivatives and completely water-soluble, was presented today in Santiago by Chilean engineers as an advance to end the pollution generated by these tools.
The whole concept lies in the change of the current chemical formula used worldwide to produce plastic bags, explained the general manager, Roberto Astete, and the commercial manager, Cristian Olivares, of Solubag, the Chilean company that has developed this innovation. Font: Agencia EFE
