IEMS 2023 Promotes Net Zero Transportation:Green Logistics Take Centre Stage

Second edition of the International Electric Mobility Showcase (IEMS) set to drive sustainability in Malaysia’s transport and logistics sector

Kuala Lumpur, 29 September 2023 – The International Electric Mobility Showcase 2023 (IEMS 2023), slated for October 4-6, 2023, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), will be the focal point for discussions on net zero transportation and mobility. Co-organised by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) and Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd, this second edition of IEMS 2023 coincides with the 14th International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2023).
IEMS 2023, convening over 50 exhibitors, industry experts and leaders in the local and global electric vehicle (EV) and low carbon mobility sector, is a must-attend event for those interested in the future of transportation and mobility. The event will present the latest EV models, cutting- edge electrification technologies, innovative products, and solutions. IEMS 2023 is set to conduct two forum sessions delving into government initiatives aimed at fostering the adoption of EVs. These sessions will also offer interesting insights from industry perspectives encompassing cars, motorcycles, heavy-duty vehicles, and talent readiness.
A special feature of IEMS 2023 is the National EV Pavilion, which encompasses booths by members of the National EV Taskforce across various sectors in the EV ecosystem, from industry development and investment to EV charging infrastructure, safety, as well as technology and skills development, among others. The pavilion will act as a one-stop information centre for industry players to seek information on Malaysia’s policies, incentives and guides in doing business in Malaysia.
MGTC Group’s CEO, Ts Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor, passionately shared, “In celebration of the future of green mobility, MGTC proudly joins forces to co-organise IEMS 2023, where innovation converges with sustainability. This collaborative effort aligns seamlessly with Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint’s visionary Focus Area B: Electric Vehicle Adoption, poised to make a remarkable impact by reducing polluting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reducing our nation’s energy consumption. With an unwavering dedication to advancing net-zero transportation, our mission is clear: to illuminate the path for industry leaders, policymakers, and enthusiasts, guiding them towards a sustainable future. We spark radical change together, discover electrifying possibilities, and boldly set sail to progressively decarbonise Malaysia’s land transportation.”
In addition to the exciting showcase, IEMS 2023 will host the Green Logistics Partnership Conference 2023 (GLPC 2023) on Thursday, 5 October 2023. This conference, co-organised by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT), Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC), MGTC, and Business Sweden, is supported by technical partners Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and Volvo Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Volvo Trucks). GLPC 2023 will focus on low carbon initiatives in the transport and logistics sector, discussing the challenges and opportunities of adopting green logistics practices. The significance of green logistics in achieving Malaysia’s sustainability goals cannot be overemphasised. Malaysia has set a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, as part of the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP). To meet this ambitious target, the country has pledged to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 45% by 2030, in accordance with the Paris Agreement. The logistics sector plays a pivotal role in meeting this target. Green logistics entails environmentally friendly and sustainable supply chain management practices that aim to minimise the environmental impact of products throughout their lifecycle.
GLPC 2023 will serve as a platform for industry leaders, experts, and policymakers to discuss and share best practices for promoting sustainability in the transport and logistics sector,
aligning with the global emphasis on sustainability, mobility innovations, and supply chain resilience.
