Milan Digital Week, the heart of the digital revolution

From 13 to 17 March, the capital of Lombardy became the national center of innovation, with over six thousand square meters of exhibition space and more than 500 events spread.

Five days of debates, exhibitions, seminars, performances and workshops, have characterized the   Milano Digital Week. Five hundred events spread throughout the city, which has become, for the occasion, the capital of digital innovation with an event dedicated to culture, education and innovation, promoted by the Department of Digital Transformation and Civic Services of the City of Milan in collaboration with Cariplo Factory, IAB Italia-Interactive Advertising Bureau and Hublab.

The objective, once again, is the production and diffusion of knowledge and innovation through digital, with a different approach from the usual, participatory, transversal and inclusive. Many professionals who participated in this event, professionals, enthusiasts or just curious people who had the opportunity to discover the many faces of a digital Milan.

The dominant theme of this second edition was urban intelligence, the multitude of technologies and applications that transform the city, the world of work and human relations, distorting, in a positive way, the lives of citizens, implementing and making more efficient all the services dedicated to them. Milano Digital Week has two main objectives: to facilitate access to new technologies, promoting digital literacy models that promote integration, learning and sharing, and to show and connect the design and production fabric of the city, indicating the individual and collective growth paths already in place.

A tale of reality, made to understand how innovation is changing the way we live, work and interact, and how it can contribute to improving everyday life and the future. Involved hundreds of innovation realities, from institutions to universities, through research bodies, startups, that have addressed different issues, from health to education, from mobility to economy, from art to robotics, from artificial intelligence to industry 4.0, but always linked to innovation.

To the six thousand square meters of BASE Milan, headquarters of Digital Week, this year were added also the spaces of the Milan Triennial, of National Museum of Science and Technology, Palazzo Giureconsulti and various universities in the city, where meetings and debates have taken place, have always been the favorite places to discuss transformations.

These include the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, IULM – Free University of Languages and Communication, NABA – New Academy of Fine Arts, Politecnico di Milano, Bocconi University, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, University of Milan, University of Milan – Bicocca. The great participation of institutions, universities, companies, museums and associations confirms the Milan Digital Week as the interpreter of a widespread need, that of sharing culture and digital knowledge, to support the growth and development of the city. At the heart of the panels is the role that artificial intelligence plays in society, and the increasingly aware role that people must play in driving technological innovation of this magnitude, which creates economic and social value.
