MTE 2020: Malaysia “awards” inventors

Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) is one of the most important Asian events dedicated to inventions and inventors: the 2020 edition will take place from 20 to 22 February in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lampur.

If an event reaches its 19th edition there will be a reason. In the case of the MTE – the Malaysia Technology Expo scheduled this year from 20 to 22 February 2020 – there is more than one reason: it is the largest event dedicated to inventions and inventors in South East Asia and, every year, it welcomes tens of thousands of visitors. For years in the international circuit of events promoted by IFIA, the MTE will once again be an unmissable stage for inventors, designers and entrepreneurs who can present their inventions, ideas, prototypes, products and projects to an audience of investors, manufacturers and distributors from all over the world. The event is scheduled from 20 to 22 February in the pavilions of the World Trade Centre (WTC) in the capital Kuala Lumpur. The themes of the 2020 edition will be environmental sustainability, integrated mobility, Internet Of Things and Smart Cities. According to the organizers, this year the pavilions will welcome more than 10,000 stakeholders, technology enthusiasts and just curious people.

MTE 2020: more than 100 prizes for inventors

Thanks to the partnership with the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations, MTE 2020 exhibitors will have the opportunity to compete for over 100 MTE Innovation Awards Programme prizes. These are important prizes awarded by an international jury of inventors, university professors and experts who evaluate the innovativeness, social impact, environmental sustainability and commercial appeal of the competing projects. In 2019, the MTE awarded 258 inventors in two categories: Public Service Innovation – created to reward innovations that have been designed, developed or implemented within the Public Administration – and Asian Youth Innovation – established in 2014 to promote, nurture and encourage the participation of young people in science, technology and innovation. In detail, in 2019 85 Gold Awards, 75 Silver Awards, 69 Bronze Awards, 16 Special Awards and 16 Foreign Awards were awarded. New this year is the introduction of the Social Innovation Asia Awards, a special award that will be given to NGOs, government agencies or private companies that have successfully implemented innovative projects in the social, humanitarian or environmental fields.
