Porsche and Boeing, agreement for the car of the future: electric and will fly

Porsche and Boeing have signed an agreement to develop the car of the future: it will be electric and take off like a helicopter.

What will the car of the future look like? According to Porsche and Boeing it will be electric and able to fly to bypass the traffic of large cities. The two transport giants have signed an agreement for the development of a new generation of urban transport vehicles. The partnership between the Stuttgart brand (owned by Volkswagen) and the US aircraft giant aims to “explore the market for premium air travel and the expansion of urban air traffic. It will not really be a car with wings, but a means of transport as comfortable as today’s cars and flying among the skyscrapers” said Detlev von Platen, member of the board and responsible for sales and marketing at Porsche. The two companies will join forces to study new models of sustainable and environmentally friendly urban mobility. For this reason, one of the few rumours circulating about this new project is that the vehicles born from the agreement between Porsche and Boeing will be electrically powered. As well as being able to fly to reduce the traffic of major urban centers around the world.

Electric and flying: the car of the future according to Porsche and Boeing

In an official statement, Boeing clarified the terms of the partnership with Porsche and set the objectives of the project. “We intend to combine the strength of two leading international companies to point to a market segment that will be potentially very important in the future. Porsche is trying to improve in the area of sports car production by becoming a leading brand in premium mobility and, in the long run, this could mean moving towards three-dimensional shifts. The goal is to build an electrically powered aircraft by 2025 that can take off and land vertically like a helicopter, and when moving on the road can deliver the performance of a Porsche, with the ultimate goal of developing a new ecosystem of safe and efficient mobility. The Stuttgart-based car manufacturer has also greeted the project with enthusiasm. “Porsche is trying to improve its reach as a sports car manufacturer by becoming a leading brand for premium mobility. In the long term, this could mean a shift to the third dimension of travel. We are combining the strengths of two leading global companies to address a potential key market segment of the future.
