The design studio Carlo Ratti presented Pura-Case, an intelligent garment carrier that sanitizes clothes thanks to an ozone treatment: the crowdfunding will start on June 9th.
Design also takes the field in the fight against Coronavirus. And it does so, of course, with creativity and artistic flair. The CRA – Carlo Ratti Associati studio presented Pura-Case, an ingenious garment carrier capable of sanitizing clothes that are hung inside. The device is an authentic concentration of technology and exploits the bactericidal action of ozone to disinfect jackets, shirts, sweaters and trousers. Pura-Case is small and easy to use: it can be installed in a home environment and complete a purification cycle in about one hour. Users can place clothes inside Pura-Case – which can hold up to four crutches – and close the sheath with an airtight zipper. At this point, thanks to a smartphone app, the ozone sanitization process is started, which eliminates viruses, bacteria and unpleasant odours from fabrics. At the end of the process, ozone is converted into oxygen through a natural decomposition process and the user can immediately remove his clothes. Pura Case was developed by the same team of designers who – last year – obtained an important recognition from the Times thanks to Scribit, the “robot-artist” who brings art on the walls of the house (WATCH THE VIDEO).

Pura-Case: the garment carrier that eliminates bacteria from fabrics
The Pura-Case project was developed by Carlo Ratti Associati during the lockdown by Coronavirus. With the spread of the health emergency, the CRA designers focused on developing solutions useful in the fight against Coronavirus. “As the whole world tries to adapt to the new health and hygiene regulations, Pura-Case aims to promote the best health and hygiene standards at the interface between us and the environment: clothes,” says architect Carlo Ratti, director of the MIT Senseable City Lab and head of the Pura-Case design team. “Pura-Case is an alternative to the large devices currently used in hospitals. It will play a vital role in the post-pandemic world next year, when we return to our old social life. Currently, Pura-Case is only a prototype. To fund the development and production phase, the CRA study will launch a Crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform. Those who want to support the project will be able to pre-purchase their sterilizing garment carrier from next June 9: however, the price has not yet been announced.
