Storaxa, a kickstarter to keep an eye on

Nearly two million euros raised for ambitious Chinese project that brings together a NAS and a high-speed WiFi router

By now it’s clear to everyone: simple ideas are the most effective. And what could be simpler than taking something that is used every day and combining it with something else that is used every day, making it, among other things, even more effective? Fundamentally, there is nothing simple here, considering we are talking about a router with over 100TB of internal storage space, fan cooling system and fast connection. Still, considering the 1.5 million euros accumulated by Storaxa on kickstarter alone, there are two questions to be asked.

The Storaxa project is a combination of a NAS (Network Attached Storage) and a WiFi router. As anticipated, it has over 100TB of capacity with a speed of 2.5 GbE and WiFi home network 6. The idea of its makers is to provide a single product that can perform several tasks (storage and router, basically), allowing the user to access their cloud from any location as long as they are connected to the Internet. As if that were not enough, Storaxa has also been equipped with slots for reading SD and micro SD cards. Apparently, nothing is lacking.

Interesting product, but how much does it cost? Is there a subscription fee involved?

According to the creators of Storaxa, there will be no subscription to access the storage spaces; just pay a one-time fee to access the space, with no limitations. As for the price, as always we at The Patent do not advertise, so we will not stand here and make a direct comparison, but we can assure you that if the performance indicated by the board is stable, the proposed price will be really attractive.

The “simple but complex” Storaxa project could receive an additional feature, its creators promise, upon reaching 2 million euros in funding: an ambitious idea but, considering the great success and the nearly 5500 backers on kickstarter, not even too far from reality.
