The future of online communication: Verbum

Ready to break down language barriers, Onemeta AI’s product stands as the main antagonist to Google Translate for real-time online meetings and conversations.

The metaverse, the infinite set of virtual spaces traversed and experienced by our digital avatars to which everyone has access, has destroyed all geographic barriers, brought distant peoples and individuals from all over the world closer together and connected. However, the language problem, to this day, is still a daunting obstacle for many users to overcome. There are services such as Google Translate and Skype Translator that offer good written or spoken translation, but these are generally designed for one-to-one conversations, and cannot handle a large community of individuals participating in a common simultaneous experience across platforms.

Onemeta AI presented its VERBUM as a solution to the seemingly insurmountable language barriers. The product devised by the California-based company can provide real-time translations for 50 individuals speaking different languages and can also, if required, provide voice.

Verbum is capable of supporting 82 languages and 40 dialects, according to the company. Initial use of the prototype would be for group meetings and meetings for international teams, but it aims to be used in online immersion experiences: MMORPGs, role-playing games, and e-sports events. Users scattered around the world may want to talk to each other quickly in real-time situations, without necessarily having to resort to the use of English.

Those who tested Verbum at CES 2023 can testify to how effectively the system, through the headset system provided, was able to simultaneously translate incoming and outgoing conversation. Although there was a slight delay, the conversation always seemed natural and smooth.

Onemeta hopes to almost completely eliminate the lack of communication caused by different languages, but its success will depend on competing with other similar products, such as those offered by Microsoft and Google. However, there is certainly a recurring need for what Verbum is proposing to offer, and its service could be very useful, finding its way and use in the marketplace.

Verbum is a promising, innovative solution that addresses a recurring need expressed by users in the metaverse. Let’s keep an eye on Onemeta’s product, it could gain a prominent position in the market in the coming times.
