Gurkha: the ‘zombie-proof’ armoured SUV

armoured SUV zombies

A Canadian company has built an armoured SUV equipped with shatterproof glass and security systems that are perfect “to fight your way through zombies in an apocalyptic scenario”.

Ready for a zombie apocalypse? If the answer is no, there’s still time to fix it. Just go online and search for Terradyne Armored Vehicles, an Ontario (Canada) company that specialises in designing and equipping “sui generis” vehicles. The latest creation of these Canadian mechanics (a bit of a nutter) is called the Gurkha. It is basically an armoured SUV equipped with zombie-proof defence systems. Or so the manufacturers assure us. The vehicle’s safety equipment includes bullet-proof glass no less than 3 inches – about 8 centimetres – thick and B7 type armouring. This means that a 308-calibre bullet fired at close range would ricochet off the SUV without causing any visible damage to the bodywork or windows. Not even a scratch!

The Gurkha armoured SUV

The Gurkha has been built using the chassis and mechanicals of a Ford F-550 XL. On the engine side, the SUV is powered by a 6.7-litre V8 turbodiesel engine with 400 hp. The vehicle is normally used by special departments of the army and law enforcement agencies in many countries around the world. It has been used, for example, in Canada, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and even in some US states. However, the manufacturers of Terradyne Armored Vehicles assure us that their vehicle would also be perfect “in all post-apocalyptic scenarios where you need to make your way around in an indestructible vehicle, or almost. The bullet-proof bodywork, shatterproof glass and all the protection is a very difficult barrier for zombies to break through. All this at a very affordable price: “only” 385,000 dollars. On the other hand, is there a price for salvation from zombies?
