The innovative means of transport, produced by Virgin Hyperloop, has proven to be able to travel safely without causing inconvenience or problems to passengers

Hyperloop is a product born from the mind of the entrepreneur and visionary Elon Musk and is produced thanks to the collaboration with Richard Branson‘s Virgin, another eclectic and visionary figure. Hyperloop is the name of a train that will travel at very high speed, reaching peaks above 1200 km/h. The modules will travel on rails using magnetic levitation to eliminate the problem of friction between wheels and tracks. The vehicle will travel inside custom-made pipelines maintained at very low pressure to minimize friction with air. The project, in the minds of the designers and on paper, is feasible and would lead to significant savings in running costs. Such high speeds, on the other hand, would revolutionize the way of moving, being able to travel for example the route New York – Los Angeles on 45 minutes or Milan – Bologna in 8.

The engineers have tackled the problems step by step up to what is a milestone in the project. In Las Vegas, for the first time, Hyperloop made a trip with two passengers on board. Even if the test lasted only a short time, the built route is only 500 meters long, the aircraft immediately reached very high speeds, exceeding even 200 km/h. The passengers on board the module stated that they did not feel any kind of discomfort or problem related to speed and acceleration. In addition, the test was used to test the Hyperloop security systems and be recognized by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

I had the true pleasure of seeing history made before my very eyes, to witness the first new mode of mass transportation in over 100 years come to life“, said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Virgin Hyperloop and Group Chairman and CEO of DP World. “I have always had tremendous faith in the team at Virgin Hyperloop to transform this technology into a safe system, and today we have done that. We are one step closer to ushering in a new era of ultra-fast, sustainable movement of people and goods“. Sir Richard Branson, Founder of the Virgin Group: “For the past few years, the Virgin Hyperloop team has been working on turning its ground breaking technology into reality. With today’s successful test, we have shown that this spirit of innovation will in fact change the way people everywhere live, work, and travel in the years to come“.
