The inclusion of the project is a kind of revenge for Paterlini-Bréchot. His method, which has been the subject of publications since 2017, has in the past not failed to provoke controversy, especially because of the high cost that could result from the analysis, as well as the fact that, according to a small part of the scientific community, would be a poorly effective method.
The members of the examination committee, which is made up of an independent international jury, would be convinced by the results of the last years of experimentation. Alongside the Italian scientist, 14 other candidates from 12 different countries: Austria, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.Finally, five categories of the award: Industry, Research, Non-European Countries, Small and Medium Enterprises and Career
