The newspaper’s code of ethics

Introduction

The principles, objectives, rules and moral values of the newspaper, The Patent, are expressed in the following document. The editorial staff and the journalists are committed to carrying out their profession in a transparent, reliable and correct manner.

Mission and objectives

The Patent believes in curiosity and passion for innovation as core values. In fact, readers have at their disposal clear, reliable and verified news from all over the world. As a result, readers have the opportunity to discover and learn about the stories of men and women who devote their lives to research, with the aim of improving it. For this reason, The Patent wants to present every day a quality information, complete, accurate, correct and therefore understandable to all. We publish innovative content, stories of young inventors, scientific research, in-depth studies of technology, patented systems and original curiosities. In short, we give a sense to the flow of information, putting the reader in a position to know and understand. In any case, the reader must be able to learn as much as possible from the world of technology, information and innovation as a result of the newspaper’s code of ethics.

Diversity

Respect for differences – in class, gender, origin – is a fundamental premise for our work, and the comparison of different points of view allows the creation of a stimulating and inclusive work environment with respect for values.

Revisions

In addition, the Patent ensures a rapid correction of any errors or inaccuracies contained in its articles. In particular, on the website, thepatent.news, the corrections will be indicated at the bottom of the article. For the paper edition, space is given to letters of recommendation, which can be sent to the address [email protected]

Verification of sources

The journalists of The Patent are primarily committed to checking and verifying the sources of each article, in order to ensure readers high standards of accuracy and truthfulness of the news. In short, journalists therefore draw, where possible from more than one source, and explicitly distinguish between primary and second-hand sources.

Anonymous sources

The use of anonymous sources does not depend on the superficiality of the journalist or on an approximate or poorly researched work. In fact, anonymity is only allowed to protect a source and to protect professional secrecy, in full compliance with the law by each journalist.
