Therefore, the Ceinture Airr Belt becomes an airbag when the body slips backwards, preventing direct contact between the pelvis and the ground.
Present at the 47th Exhibition of Inventions, Techniques and New Products in Geneva (12 – 14 April 2019), one invention of all has attracted our attention. It is a patented device that protects our elders from hip fractures caused by ruinous falls. It is called the Ceinture Airr Belt, and is a belt patented by the Swiss startup SPTechActive.
The startup and the concretization of the makers
SPtechActive (Service à la Personne Technologie Active)was founded in 2017 in Switzerland by 3 paramedics with many years of experience in the field of orthopaedics. During the course of their work, they were able to see the effects of a bad fall on the sometimes harmful elderly. This led to the idea of building a startup, focusing on the marketing of a device capable of protecting and guaranteeing maximum safety.
Ceinture Airr Belt
The belt in question is automatically activated following a signal sent by the sensors that detects the fall. In this way, the device offers protection 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Hence, its operation is really very simple. Therefore, the device works a bit like an airbag, as the balloons placed on the sides inflate as a result of the signal sent by the sensors, thus cushioning the fall.
