Google has officially launched a new generation (the fourth generation) of its bluetooth headset, the Pixel Buds. In addition to a longer-lasting battery and a sophisticated noise isolation mechanism, the new Pixel Buds will also integrate a system that provides instant translation of what you hear. Just like the protagonists of Star Trek with the universal simultaneous translator. All thanks to the power of Artificial Intelligence: the software developed by Google is able to recognize the sounds of 40 languages all over the world (but more languages will be added) and instantly translate what you hear. A concise but perfectly comprehensible voice translates everything that reaches the user’s ear into the selected language. The experience – assures Google – is natural, intuitive and designed specifically to remove the greatest number of “obstacles” from international conversations.

On Mountain View’s official blog, Pixel Buds are presented as headphones that “have a unique hybrid design that helps you maintain your perception of the world around you while offering you powerful sound. The earplugs gently seal the ear to isolate loud external noise and provide high quality audio. The ventilation underneath reduces the feeling of a clogged ear, and lets the right amount of ambient sound through so you can stay aware of the things around you. The new Pixel Buds will be released in early 2020 at a price around $200 – not bad for a gadget worthy of a science fiction TV series!
