Spotter is a social parking app that helps you find parking space for your car and allows you to earn small rewards.
“One night on the Navigli, some time ago, after forty minutes looking for a place for the car we started looking for an app that would help us find free parking spaces. I was sure someone had already thought of it. But, to my surprise, it didn’t exist on Milan“. This is how entrepreneur Jader Manno tells the story of the birth of Spotter, the first Italian social parking app. Spotter is a real social network dedicated to motorists looking for parking. The system is based on the logic of social rating and promises to save 20% of the time “lost” in a car looking for a parking space. The user who leaves the parking lot must share the position and report his departure through the app. At this point, the other members of the community can acquire information about the available place (the size, type and time of occupation) and decide whether to book it or not. Advanced search criteria and a rewards mechanism to encourage sharing are also available.
The Spotter app to find parking
Those who share information about their parking space are remunerated, even if no other user books the vacant space. The reward is given in the form of “sPoints” which allow you to take advantage of some advanced features (e.g. book a parking space many hours in advance) or get Amazon vouchers. At the moment, the Spotter app is only active in Rome. The service was launched at the end of 2019 (15,000 downloads between December and February) but had a real surge after the end of the Coronavirus emergency. In the first weeks of June, in fact, more than 3000 users downloaded the application and started using it to find parking. “We realize that this is an important transition phase for the mobility of the city and we are convinced that our App will be an important tool to improve the quality of life of motorists” explains Jader Manno, CEO of Spotter. “The goodness of our project – he continues – has found important confirmation in the awards obtained in the various contests in which we have participated. I am pleased to remember how Spotter was among the finalists of the last Web Marketing Festival, the most important competition for startups in Italy”.
